The process of turning our tiny backyard into our own personal oasis has begun. In about 8 weeks we will have an outdoor space complete with pool, landscaping and lighting. I cannot wait to swim in a pool and not have to worry if the person before me peed in it!
This past week has been quite exciting watching, what I would like to refer to as, “The Big Dig.” Once we approved the layout on the property, the excavation began, and in two days it was done. We officially had…..a hole.
Here is how it all started.
Thursday morning I woke to find a man in my backyard operating a mini BOBCAT backhoe. Woo Hoo!
First, he would dig for awhile until he had a good chunk of the dirt removed, and then…
…he would haul it away using a second BOBCAT with a bucket on the front.
This one man show of digging and dirt removal went on for hours.
Now, while all that was happening, this man worked on the perimeter installing plywood attached to re-bar, leveling it at every step, giving the pool it’s general shape. Yes, it’s a rectangle. That was the most logical choice given the shape of the backyard.
By the end of the day on Friday the first phase of EXCAVATION was complete.
Hard to believe we went…
in less than 48 hours.
I’ll keep posting as the process continues with operation: “Backyard Beautification!”
